The transcript argumentwas analyzed using qualitative method under the motion This House Would Legalize Marijuana in Canada. The writer found five elements in debater’s argument structure namely claim, data, warrant, backing, and rebuttal elements. There are also relations such claim, data, warrant, backing, and rebuttal relations. Finally, this study revealed that the Negative Team as a team that has the most plausible arguments over the Affirmative Team. This study provides understanding, criticism, and improvement of debaters arguments. It is hoped to be useful by a wide range of people and especially those who are affected by arguments such as academic writers, students, teachers and debate adjudicators.
